Research

Oxenfurt is a research university with a humanities core. Our research income in 2025–26 was £68.4 million, a third of it for the arts, humanities and law.

In the most recent national assessment of university research, 89% of the work we submitted was judged world-leading or internationally excellent, and philosophy, history and English were each among the strongest in the country. We would add that the University has a habit of keeping things, and that much of our best research begins in the Library’s Special Collections or the Academy’s own records.
