The Ferry Bursary
The Ferry Bursary was founded in 1897 by a bequest from a Novigrad shipwright, Ezra Coggeshall, “so that no scholar living over the water shall be kept from his books by the price of the crossing”. It pays £12 towards each termly student pass for the Pontar Crossing, and in high water, when sailings are cancelled, it meets the cost of a taxi over the Pontar Bridge for students with examinations.
