Research centres and institutes
Centres and institutes bring together researchers from more than one department around a shared subject. Each is based in a department and reports to the Research Committee of Senate.
Pontar Institute for Rivers and Coasts
Geographers, engineers, biologists and mathematicians working on tidal rivers, estuaries and flood risk. The Institute keeps a network of river-level gauges on the Pontar, runs the Saltings Marsh field station with Biosciences, and uses the Department of Engineering’s wave flume. Its flood forecasting work is carried out with Novigrad Harbour Authority and the city council.
